Walter Cronkite served as the honorary chairperson of the Stone Soup Leadership Institute for over a decade. Upon his passing, the Institute launched the Walter Cronkite Award Ceremony to honor his wisdom and his leadership. On July 17, 2022, in honor of the anniversary of his passing in 2009, The Institute announced the Cronkite Award for Climate Reporting. Awards will be presented at the Sustainable Fall River Day.
